To promote PECO Energy’s Smart Ideas—a host of tools and rebates to help customers save energy and money—we weren't afraid to resort to scare tactics. We created an integrated campaign featuring a band of furry puppet ogres to represent the old, outdated appliances hiding in customers’ homes. This award-winning campaign helped reduce overall energy consumption by 7%. Over 600,000 customers signed up to receive over $200 million in rebates and incentives. More than 58,000 refrigerators were recycled and 13 million energy-sucking lightbulbs were replaced. All of which resulted in over $500 million in annual energy savings. We helped PECO customers save so much money and energy, it's scary.
